Cleans and sterilizes instruments per established AHN approved policy and manufacturer's guidelines. Accurately performs lab controls and equipment checks as assigned. Administers and accurately documents medications in accordance with policy and safe practice. May require floating/travel between physician office locations. Company Allegheny Health Network Job Description GENERAL OVERVIEW Under the direction of the provider and as a member of the health care team, assists in coordinating the examination, treatment and health care planning for patients. Assists with other office functions to support patient care and office operations. Follows all established protocols, policies, procedures and standardized workflows. Essential Responsibilities Using the team based approach, assists in the coordination of patient care under supervision of the health care provider. Prepares and rooms patients within the clinical practice setting according to standardized work flows. Performs back office testing following approved AHN protocols and policies. Assists providers with examination and procedures. May serve as a scribe with additional training. Provides follow up with patients at designated intervals via patient's preferred method (telephone, electronic, written) in accordance with provider instructions. Notifies patients of test results under the direction of provider in a timely manner. Prepares exam room for patient visit. Ensures adequate inventory of medical supplies. Ensures all patient treatment areas are at all times stocked with the appropriate supplies using established inventory standards. Cleans and sterilizes instruments per established AHN approved policy and manufacturer's guidelines. Accurately performs lab controls and equipment checks as assigned. Administers and accurately documents medications in accordance with policy and safe practice. Documents accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) according to established standards and work flows. Accurately performs clerical office functions and other duties as assigned. May require floating/travel between physician office locations. Job ID: P137349-2656572 Job Description Role Description Position is located at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento in the Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery program (160-180 cases per year). We are satellite program of Stanford Medicine Children's Health (SMCH) and have additional surgeon support from SMCH for our most complex operations. At Sutter Medical Center, we currently have two Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeons and one Physician Assistant that work with a team of PICU intensivists, Pediatric cardiologists, and Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologists to take care of both complex cardiac patients, such as babies with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, and less complex patients, such as patients with atrial or ventricular septal defects. We also work with our Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program to care for adult patients when they need additional surgery. Duties include consults in conjugation with the surgeons, intraoperative first and second assist, post-operative surgical rounding, and post operative outpatient appointments. We also run a small chest wall program that requires bracing of children with pectus carinatum or surgical intervention for children with pectus excavatum. JOB SUMMARY This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) positions are part of a collaborative team consisting of Attending Physicians, Fellows, and a team of advanced practice providers both NPs and PAs. The APP team is highly respected, we are seen as the go to team for the attendings. We actively participate in the education of fellows and visiting residents. Responsibilities for this role include: receiving sign-out from overnight team. Pre-rounding on assigned patients, developing a plan of care for the day for that patient, present patients on rounds, write a daily note, you will be responsible for implementing the plan agreed upon on during rounds and responding to any issues raised by the nurses during the course of the day.
