POSITION SUMMARY: Night Shift 7p-730a Delivers professional and technical nursing care to patients. Nursing care delivered complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital. Adheres to the monitoring of and compliance with all licensing and regulatory agency guidelines including but not limited to TJC, ACHA, OSHA, CMS, DCF, etc. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation when delivering nursing care. Prepares equipment and assists physician during treatments and examinations of patients. Assists in planning, supervising, and instructing ER Techs and Patient Care Assistants. The professional nurse must possess strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work in a stressful fast paced environment is essential. CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Qualifications - Required: Completion of a formal Operating Room Technician course and 1 year previous surgical experience; Basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Obtains all supplies needed by the patient, surgeon or anesthesiologist. Obtains special equipment when needed. Maintains correct positioning of patient during case.
