Clinical Logistics Coordinator - Bed Placement Registered Nurse (RN) Job Responsibilities: Assigns patients to the right care site while promoting positive outcomes related to patient bed placement. Coordinates with the Inova Transfer Center and care sites to balance patient volumes across care sites. Obtains information on patient admissions originating from the ED, PACU, direct admissions and transfers from other facilities while determining the appropriateness of admission Collaborates with care-site-based team members on challenging admissions to find appropriate patient placement. Facilitates daily capacity/flow meetings with all care sites, leads efforts to problem solve during high census periods, and helps develop action plans and implements interventions aimed at reducing patients boarding and / or waiting on admission to specialty care sites Collaborates and directs patient flow coordinators effectively in prioritizing appropriate bed placement of all patient types upon notification of admission or transfer. Monitors EPIC bed planning and bed board modules at all times and proactively uses the information to plan bed availability based on current census, OR cases, discharges and historical data. Orients new team members to patient flow initiatives, demand capacity flow and creates awareness of the importance of patient flow within the organization. Maintains awareness of staffing levels in key departments that may impact patient flow such as EVS, transport and nursing. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing Experience: 3 years clinical nursing experience in acute care setting Certification: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
