Position Overview United Health Services is seeking a Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Registered Nurse to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking. In this highly specialized role, the SAFE RN delivers comprehensive medical-forensic services, conducts forensic examinations, collects and preserves evidence, administers prophylactic medications, and supports patients through every step of their care journey with dignity, empathy, and professionalism. Working in accordance with New York State Department of Health guidelines, the SAFE RN collaborates closely with physicians, victim advocates, law enforcement, and other community partners to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care. Licensure: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care, Women’s Health, or Pediatrics preferred. Certifications: Current BLS required; ACLS, PALS, SANE-A, AFN-C, LNCC preferred. What We Offer Registered Nurse (RN) – Perfect Match Program | Novant Health Novant Health’s Perfect Match Program (PMP) is designed to quickly place experienced nurses into the right clinical environment through short-term rotations before permanent placement. Selected RNs will rotate through 3–4 units within the same service line over a 6–8 week period , allowing both the nurse and the team to determine the best long-term fit. Important: This program is not intended for nurses looking to explore new specialties. Applicants must have at least 2 years of recent experience within the same service line in the last 3 years . What to Expect Short-term rotational experience (6–8 weeks) within one service line Exposure to 3–4 units within that specialty area Opportunity for permanent placement following rotation Requirements Active RN license Minimum 2 years of recent experience (within the last 3 years) in the same service line Ability to work across multiple inpatient units within that specialty Strong clinical skills and adaptability Example: Applicants applying to the Emergency Department Perfect Match Program must have recent Emergency Department RN experience. What We're Looking For Education: - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. - 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. - If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course. Experience: One year of acute nursing experience required. Licensure/Certification/Registration: - Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required. - Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association required. Job Summary: The APRN Inpatient provide a wide range of primary, acute and specialty healthcare services, both autonomously and in partnership with other healthcare professionals, in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Required Qualifications: Duties and Responsibilities: Uses clinical judgments in conducting health assessments making differential diagnosis, and prescribing pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. Plans are implemented through independent action, health counseling, and collaboration with other members of the health team. The APRN is responsible for clinical oversight and health center consultation regarding administration of health care policy and procedure of the delivery of on-site health services. The NP promotes optimum health, prevents illness and injury, and manages acute and chronic health problems in the on-site setting. Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of Physician. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients clinical problems and health care needs. Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patients condition. Provides written home-going instructions. Makes referrals for follow-up to appropriate community resources. Collaborates with other specialties to ensure interdisciplinary management and continuity of care for both inpatients and outpatients. Collaborates with Physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan as necessary. Prescribes or recommends medications or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures. Refers patients to Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment. Maintains detailed and accurate medical records. Educates and coaches nursing staff on best nursing practices. Initiates search of nursing literature/suggests changes/improvement in patient care standards. Integrates current knowledge of professional issues, trends in health care and technological advances into scope of practice. This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Follows and performs all related unit specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency check-list. Utilizes job and unit specific equipment as required. Employees assigned lead job duties may perform the following, but not limited to: approve time off requests for IR NPs. Coordinate tracking board and first cases. Address IR escalations, expediting and prioritizing escalations to help shorten LOS. Onboarding Fellows, orient residents. Lead staff huddle. Main resource for the unit/hospital (touchpoint person for the unit). Review case delays. Involved in PI projects for the department. Psychiatric nurse practitioners can capacitate psychiatric patients in the hospital setting, they can also provide one of the professional opinions on the “2 Physician certification” form (B-32). Required Qualification: Experience Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience. Units at BHH require 1 year of experience. Education Master's degree in Nursing is required. Must meet and maintain valid and current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by regulatory and/or nursing standard of practice for the specialty.
