U ndrapes the patient at the end of the procedure and disposes of the soiled drapes and disposals in a manner to confine contamination. Isolates and disposes of sharps in the sharps containers. R emoves water from the instrument-soaking basin with the Neptune suction machine. Encloses all soiled instruments in the case cart and transfers the cart to the elevator located in the soiled utility room. Sprays used instruments with enzymatic cleaner until moistened. Sends elevator to the Sterile Processing department. M onitors patients for potentially dangerous physical changes. Recognizes abnormal findings and immediately notifies nurse or physician. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Colon and Rectal, ENT, Gastroenterology, General, Gynecology, Hand, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, Plastic, Podiatry, Urology. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday, schedule subject to changed based on surgical schedule and flow of day. Candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures. Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment. Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment. Is responsible for doing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse. Gowns and gloves surgeons and assistants. Assists in keeping physician preference cards accurate/updated. Retains all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source/name of specimen with surgeon.
