Under the general supervision of the Manager of Perioperative Services, and the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist is responsible for filling the surgical scrub role on all types of minor and major surgical procedures dependent on individual competencies in each surgical specialty. Assists physicians and nurses in various medical and technical procedures. These functions must be in compliance with the philosophy of the hospital, standards of practice and regulations of governing agencies. SUMMARY OF JOB The LDR Surgical Technician functions under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include assisting the nursing staff in maintaining day-to-day management of supplies, equipment and inventory supplies. Supplies and preparation of specific equipment and rooms, which require aseptic techniques. The LDR technician also functions as scrub technician for Cesarean Sections under the direction of the RN Circulator . The LDR Surgical Technician provides direct patient care and performs selected therapeutic interventions and diagnostic procedures under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The patients consist of women during the perinatal phase and their neonates.
