Job Summary and Qualifications As a Certified Surgical Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to the company’s mission and vision by assisting with the provision of safe and effective nursing care in accordance with a defined scope of practice within the operating room. This may include: direct patient care and observation, scrubbing and assisting the surgeon at the operative field, surgical room turnover between cases, collection and recording of pertinent clinical data in the medical record and consistent collaboration with the Registered Nurse in clinical decision making. General Description of the Job Class Surgical Technologists (ST) are allied health professionals who assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients ranging from infancy to geriatrics under the general direction of a professional nurse. Duties and Responsibilities of this Level Level I - New graduate with up to 18 months of full-time equivalent experience. Perform all responsibilities in a manner that demonstrates Service Excellence towards patients, physicians, peers and other departments. Assume responsibility for upholding the policies and procedures of the department and organization. Demonstrates eagerness to learn, takes direction, adapts to changes within unit, demonstrates consistent progress toward Level II. Establishes and maintains sterile field and assures team maintains sterile environment. Demonstrate and practice a good understanding of sterile technique. Has a basic knowledge of instrumentations. Prepare Operating Room with appropriate instrumentation, equipment and supplies. Demonstrates correct and safe instrumentation passing and performs sponge, needle and instrument counts in a safe and accurate manner. Maintain technical skills to serve a patient population comprised of infancy to geriatric clients. Take calls and rotate shifts as required under the direction of a registered nurse. Surgical Technologist (dayshift)

Job Description Nemours is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist to join our Wilmington team! The surgical technologist facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team. This primary position at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, will include collaboration with the Nemours Ambulatory Surgery Facilities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to optimize available resources in achieving optimal patient outcomes. This position may require periodic rotation to the ambulatory surgery centers. Travel is compensated based on organizational policy. This position is expected to maintain all state and federal clearances for DE, PA, and NJ for periodic rotation to the surgery centers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey at the discretion of Perioperative Leadership. This includes current Pennsylvania (PA) FBI Fingerprint Report, PA Criminal Background Record, and PA Child Abuse Clearance. This position requires working shifts aligned with the needs of the department and the assigned FTE of the surgical technologist. This position also includes on-call and holiday requirements based on the needs of the department. Position is full-time, DAY shift position 0645-1915. Responsibilities Functions as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure. Participates in pre-procedure operating room set-up adhering to established reliable method. Confirms, prepares, and organizes requested sterile supplies and instruments for procedures with inspection and confirmation of supply and instrument sterility. Performs accounting procedures in concert with the circulating nurse per organizational policies and procedures activating escalation and taking corrective action as needed. Assists with preparation and placement of sterile drapes. Provides instruments and supplies in a safe manner to the surgical team during procedures. Maintains a safe and organized back table and sterile field. Ensures sterility of the surgical field taking activating escalation and corrective action as needed. Prepares sterile dressings upon completion of final surgical count. Cleans and prepares surgical instruments for processing and transport to the sterile processing decontamination area per organizational policy and procedure.
