JOB SUMMARY Responsible to ensure that the MDS Department maintains a current care plan and MDS for all residents and that all documents pertaining to plan of care are consistent in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, facility policies and as may be directed by the Administrator. Conducts Medicare meetings in coordination with the facility Administrator and completes regular reviews of therapy schedules and needs for COT assessments. Provides assistance with the review of the resident services, makes recommendations regarding treatment, performs documentation reviews, and other areas that will assist with maximizing reimbursement for services provided. Oversee that residents/ families/responsible parties are contacted in relation to participation in care plan conferences per RAI guidelines. Plan, conduct, and participate in In-service Education Program as it pertains to the RAI process for the facility IDT members. Assist in implementing and maintaining an effective orientation program that orients the new employee to the RAI process and data entry. Attend and participate in continuing education programs. Monitor resident’s medical record, including MDS, Cardex, Care Plans, progress notes, Physician Order Sheets, Flow records, monthly nursing summaries, IDT notes/assessments, etc. for consistency and content. Address discrepancies in documentation which are not consistent and/or do not meet program standards to appropriate department manager and Administrator. Maintain ICD-9 codes for current diagnosis. Report IT concerns to help desk timely. Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility’s Quality Improvement program. Completes assigned or self-initiated Quality Improvement projects to monitor the Managed Care and Medicare reimbursement. Works closely with AMS MDS Coordinator on identification of problems and problem-solving action plans related to the MDS processes. Attend relevant meetings as directed by the Administrator. Registered Nurse Principal Accountabilities: Demonstrates the ability to read cardiac rhythms and treat them according to ACLS standards within 90 days of hire to provide advanced cardiac care to patients. Shows ability to obtain and assess hemodynamic values and maintains care of invasive monitoring equipment to provide valuable information regarding cardiopulmonary function and early detection of change in condition. Demonstrates knowledge of IV medications and drips restricted to use in the ICU setting, their indications, dosage, and the required monitoring to assure safe nursing practice. Responsible for cardiac rhythm interpretation of the telemetry patients on the medical surgical unit; notification of the patient’s nurse and physician regarding arrhythmias; ability to give direction to and relieve the monitor tech/unit clerk as needed. Prepared to respond to in-house code blue emergencies and to act as the team leader following standard ACLS and PALS protocols. May be asked to serve as preceptor, providing training and practical experience needed to prepare newly hired RNs to gain independence.
