Responsibilities: Ensure an efficient patient flow; room patients in a timely manner, complete vital signs, complete required screenings and complete medication reviews Inventory supplies and stock exam rooms Respond to patient requests for telephonic support (Lab results, faxing records to specialists, etc.) In accordance with state regulations, MAs may administer vaccinations, perform point of care tests including but not limited to: A1C, spirometry, EKGs, blood draws for lab testing, etc. Import required documents into EMR via scanning or PDF upload. The Float Certified Medical Assistant is able to demonstrate the knowledge, ability, and skills necessary to safely administer medications in the ambulatory care setting. Demonstrates appropriate use of AIDET when registering patients. Enters new patient data and/or verifies patient records are up-to-date, confirms the completeness of the electronic health record (EHR), makes changes as necessary, and completes an accurate registration. Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits on each patient. Collects out-of-pocket liabilities from patients upfront and applies and reconciles daily point-of-service cash reports. Refers patient accounts to financial counselors when further explanation/education is needed regarding out-of-pocket liabilities, payment plans, etc. Maintains compliance in RQI. Able to work in assigned area(s) and any other clinic based on operational needs. Preferred Qualifications 6 months of clerical experience and experience related to patient care. Active certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association (NHA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT). Possesses one of the following: 1 year of work experience in medical billing, patient registration, and/or patient scheduling. Education related to medical billing, patient registration, and/or patient scheduling from an accredited institution. Possess a current certification as a Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) from the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM). Experience calculating proper dosage and administering specific medications under the direction of the provider, particularly pediatric immunizations, and converting across measurement systems. Experience performing point of care testing, CLIA waived testing, wound care, dressing changes, specimen collection, and phlebotomy. Experience assisting with various procedures and tests, such as pulmonary function tests. Experience with Epic In-Basket management For ENT, Ortho, and Surgery Clinics: Experience assisting with external fixator removal, flex sigmoidoscopy, hemorrhoid banding, collars, cast removal, incision & drainage, cystoscopy set up and clean up, thyroid fine needle aspiration biopsy, reductions, and splint placement. Physical Requirements May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance. Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
