Documents patient care information per policies and procedures in the medical record. Obtains vital signs, identifies reason for visit and prepares patients for visit. Performs basic testing procedures, i.e., EKG, urine dipstick and pregnancy tests, and administers injections as ordered by the physician. Prepares and supports patient, and assists the provider with medical procedures. Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned. NOTE: The duties in italics listed above are not performed by the Pre-Admissions Testing MAs. Staff Medical Assistant: Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Required to meet one of the following: Medical Assistant experience, or CNA/EMT/PCT(or other comparable experience) providing direct patient care, beyond Activities of Daily Living, including experience taking manual vitals and giving medications and/or injections, or Graduate of a medical assistant program. Preferred: Six (6) months or more experience as a Medical Assistant. Certificate/License Medical Assistant certification preferred. Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card or within 60 days of hire required.
