Participates in preoperative evaluation including but not limited to assessment, exam, obtaining informed consent, ordering/administering pre‐medications, requesting and/or review of preoperative studies. Ensures readiness and availability of equipment, supplies and medications to perform the planned anesthetic. Delivers anesthesia care including induction, maintenance, support of life functions, and emergence from anesthesia. Selects, obtains, and administers the necessary anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, fluids, and temperature regulating devices to manage the anesthetic, assesses response, and intervene as needed. Performs post-anesthesia duties including remaining with the patient and facilitating safe transfer of care to other qualified individuals; administering post-operative epidural pain relief and other post-operative analgesia in collaboration with the surgeon; and making post-anesthetic visits regarding the presence or absence of anesthesia related complications. Manage emergency situations by assessing, stabilizing, and determining disposition of patients, including providing advanced airway management, administration of emergency drugs and fluids, and using basic and advanced cardiac life support techniques. Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Substantiates and submits professional services consistent with compliant coding and billing practices. Job Summary A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for the pre-operative, intra-operative, and immediate post-operative care of the patient requiring anesthesia for surgical, medical, therapeutic, or diagnostic procedures.
