Our lab consolidates comprehensive cardiac services into one shared and highly efficient location. Here at Memorial, we currently have 1 EP room, 3 Cath lab procedural rooms, and 6 recovery bays. Our recovery area is unique in that serves as a PACU recovering both our TAVR and Mitral Clip patients as well as our post procedural Cath/EP patients. At Memorial Regional, our Cath lab performs state of the art procedures such as TAVR’s (Transaortic valve replacement) , Mitral Clips and Watchman (Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion Device), as well as averaging a large volume of radial and femoral artery catheterizations every month. Our EP lab performs all types of ablations as well as ICD’s, Pacemakers and EP studies, which looks for abnormal heart arrhythmias. Teamwork is an essential part in any Cath/EP lab. Because each role is unique in how it operates, it’s important to work together as a team to ensure the completion of the procedure and a positive patient outcome. Primary Function/General Purpose of Position The Nurse Manager is responsible for the integration, facilitation, and coordination of administrative and clinical practice for the assigned nursing unit(s) with twenty-four hour accountability. Provides management and clinical support to other nursing units and house-wide as required. Serves as a professional role model, mentor, and clinical resource/educator for nurses and other members of the health care team. Develops unit goals and objectives with staff based on analysis of clinical and managerial processes to improve patient outcomes and create a culture of excellence. Contributes to Quality Improvement activities and participates in the departmental Quality Improvement Program. Responsible for own professional development to insure appropriate knowledge of advances in practice to provide state of the art treatment for patient population serviced. Perform other related duties as required. Requirements Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut Medical/Surgical experience preferred. Intravenous therapy experience preferred (included starting IV's) Good communication skills. Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team Ability to work in a time oriented environment including exposure to all patient elements, i.e. blood borne pathogens, physical requirements; lifting and pulling of patients, pushing stretchers, standing and walking for extended periods of time wearing a lead apron.
