How you make a difference The Psychiatric Registered Nurse will work under the direct supervision of the Health Services Administrator (HSA)/Program Manager (PM) or higher medical professional to develop, initiate and coordinate patient care plans in a psychiatric setting. They will collaborate with the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care to patients. Key Responsibilities • Utilize the nursing process to provide quality patient care by completing assessments, analyzing data, and administering medication according to established standards.• Respond to psychiatric emergencies, assess for suicide ideation, and manage appropriate risk levels.• Communicate with healthcare staff regarding patient mental health status, document findings in patient health records, and provide crisis intervention and counseling as required.• Coordinate activities of assigned shift, respond to intake area requests, and maintain a clean, safe, and secure working environment.• Initiate lifesaving measures, identify medical emergencies, and arrange transportation to hospital as needed. Overview About the Role The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a skilled health provider who through a written collaborative practice agreement with a physician is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. As a member of the Medical Staff the APN demonstrates standards of professional practice that includes ethical decision making, job activities related to quality assessment/improvement, self-evaluation, leadership, and research. The APN is self-directed and purposeful in seeking necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competency. The APN in the Surgery Practices utilizes critical judgment in the performance of comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and the prescribing of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of patients diagnosed with a variety of surgical conditions/diseases. The APN practice will promote wellness through conducting research, providing education and works autonomously as well as in interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Collects comprehensive patient health data/history including past and present medical, surgical, family, and social history. Diagnostic tests and procedures relevant to the patient’s status are collected, interpreted, and documented at the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Completes the medication reconciliation process by documenting the current list of medications (including over the counter and nutritional supplements) taken by patient at each visit. Performs and documents an appropriate comprehensive physical assessment of patients which will include a review of systems, evaluation of manifestations and toxicities related to medical conditions and anticoagulation management. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Required: Completion of an educational program which is designed and conducted to prepare graduates to practice as an NP/APN with a master’s degree in nursing and eligible for certification by a national certifying body. A current Registered/Professional Nurse license and registration in the State of New Jersey is required. Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem solving are essential. A minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience and current BLS certification are required.
