Overview The Diabetes Nurse Educator is a member of the EVMS Diabetes in Pregnancy Program and partners with Maternal-Fetal Medicine providers and the multidisciplinary care team to deliver specialized diabetes education and management for individuals before, during, and after pregnancy. The position focuses on promoting optimal glycemic control through individualized patient dietary education, insulin management, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), insulin pump therapy, and evidence-based clinical care. The Diabetes Nurse Educator reviews glucose data, collaborates with providers to support treatment decisions, and serves as a resource for patients and staff on current diabetes technologies and best practices. This role requires excellent communication, sound clinical judgment, and a commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care that supports improved maternal and neonatal outcomes. This position is primarily based out of the Virginia Beach office but will require travel to all office locations as needed. Responsibilities Clinic- 70% Call patients from reception area. Obtain and record vital signs such as height, weight, temperature and blood pressure. May be required to draw blood and give injections. May be required to perform a urine dipstick test. Will be required to download and interpret data from Continuous Glucose Sensors and Inulin Pumps under direct supervision. Record all pertinent patient information in Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Assist MD in identification of appropriate Incumbents for insulin pump therapy and may participate in insulin pump initiation and management under direct supervision of MD. Obtains patient histories and reviews incoming visit history/notes provided by referring physicians. Correlate the patient’s clinical history and appropriate nursing actions for referral. Review patient lab results, discuss abnormal findings with the physician and follow up with patient regarding treatment prescribed by the physician as necessary. Ensure that assigned residents are appropriately prepared for school, clinic, recreation and hospital visits as scheduled and accompany/transport them as assigned. Ensure that bedfast residents are repositioned as directed by NCC but not less than two repositions per resident hourly. Overview The Nurse Manager is responsible for management of clinical services of the Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgery (MIGS) Division, within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN). The Nurse Manager works closely with the MIGS Division Director, MIGS Practice Manager, and Department Administrator to develop, implement, and maintain clinical programs that enhance the quality of care and achieve a high level of patient and provider satisfaction. Responsible for talent identification, hiring, onboarding, and training for new team members. Responsible for coordination and distribution of clinical staff assignments and schedules. Demonstrate critical thinking skills needed for maintaining optimum clinical care and effective clinical workflow when faced with operational challenges such as provider and staffing shortages, emergency scheduling issues, electronic health record and telephone outages and other variables that frequently present within the clinical environment. Identify gaps in performance of staff and provide counseling, training or performance improvement plans as needed. Develop measurable metrics to ensure performance standards are being met. Develop and implement policies and procedures governing all aspects of clinical operations. Work in clinics as needed. Represent the MIGS clinical team during leadership meetings, trainings and development sessions. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree. Three (3) years of supervisor experience is required. Licensed Virginia RN (or LPNwith equivalent education and/or experience) is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a Medical Office environment is preferred.
