This role involves triaging, assessing, and providing immediate care in a fast-paced environment. ER RNs work collaboratively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver rapid care for a wide range of medical conditions, from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies. Emergency Care: Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and treatments as per physician orders. Perform emergency procedures like wound care, and splinting. Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and response to treatments, adjusting interventions as needed. Collaboration: Work closely with the medical team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff. Documentation: Accurately record patient information, treatment plans, and responses to care in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts as required. Patient Education: Provide patients and families with information regarding diagnoses, procedures, and follow-up care instructions. Emergency Response: Respond to rapid response calls, code blue situations, or any critical situation requiring immediate intervention. Patient Advocacy: Ensure that the patient’s rights, dignity, and preferences are respected at all times while providing care. Infection Control: Follow all infection control protocols to minimize the risk of infection for patients and healthcare staff. Quality Improvement: Participate in the ongoing evaluation of care quality and suggest improvements in processes or procedures to optimize patient outcomes.
