actively demonstrates an understanding of patient safety in daily practice in regards to: fall prevention, positioning, transfers, surgical site i.d., electrosurgical safety, laser safety, fire in the OR and signs and symptoms of malignant hyperpyrexia; pulls cases utilizing the surgeon preference card; ensures all supplies required for assigned case are available and in date when case is pulled; ensures case is appropriately set up prior to transfer of the patient to the room; RN - NICU

Overview DCH Health System is proud to offer Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Service at both our Regional and Northport Campuses. We specialize in the critical care of neonates and infants in our 21 bed unit at DCH Regional and 18 bed unit at Northport Medical Center. Our team of Neonatologists , Neonatal nurse practitioners, Neonatal nursing staff, NICU dedicated Respiratory Therapist, and NICU dedicated pharmacist provide in house care 24-7. We support a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care that also includes speech therapist, lactation consultants, child life therapists, and social workers. Our RN staff are especially skilled in the assessment and treatment of infants with complex, multisystem dysfunction. Our nurse to patient ratio is usually 1:2 or 1:3 depending on the acuity of the patient. They practice family-centered rounding to provide support and education so that families understand the needs for their baby. Responsibilities Plans, coordinates and directs quality, compassionate care by maintaining standards of professional nursing practice and creating positive therapeutic relationships with patients/families. Provides leadership to other team members by articulating and delegating expected standards of care, supervising and encouraging team members, and supporting their contributions. Supervises LPNs, PCAs, PCAs/US, US, Ortho Techs and other non-licensed staff. Overview The NMC Intensive Care Unit provides care for adult surgical, medical, and cardiac patients. There are 8 beds in the unit and all are visible from the centrally located nurse’s station.
