Job Description Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team. Works under the direction of the Division Chair, Division Manager and attending faculty. Supports the goals and philosophy of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Department of Surgery. Works in the clinical office of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery located at the Mt. Zion and Mission Bay campus. Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning implementation, and evaluation to provide safe therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care, Adult and Pediatrics, administered by other members of the nursing team. Assists the faculty members and residents with initial patient interactions, including interviews with patients; pre-operative and post-operative counseling regarding procedures, and coordinating care with other services. Responsible for medical equipment, purchasing implants, expanders and other supplies/ items needed for surgery and the clinic. In addition, assists with minor office procedures. This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Two years of recent RN experience in Plastic Surgery or surgical ambulatory patient care area. Experience with ambulatory nursing clinical triage. Epic training as it relates to APeX used at UCSF Medical Center Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California Current healthcare provider BLS CPR certification. Prior work with Transgender Community and Pediatrics. Experience with Cosmetic products such as Botox, Juvaderm, and Fillers. Knowledge or working experience with Lasers as it relates to Plastic Surgery Knowledge and coordination of pre and post-operative care relating to Plastic Surgery. The flexibility to orient and work in all UCSF Health locations Preferred Qualification BS in Psychology to deal with sensitive patient issues. Demonstrated leadership experience. Assists in checking medication regardless of packaging system. Counts all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift. Maintains and cleans the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness cleanliness, availability of medications and expired medications. Follows re-fill process for medications. Participates in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates. Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse and respiration rates. Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks and hazardous chemicals immediately. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures May refer patients to physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment. Required Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in Internal Medicine or Family Practice Must be Board Certified Must be licensed to practice in appropriate state BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required Preferred Qualifications Proficient in promoting the clinic Strong Communication skills Patient communication skills Physical Job Requirements May require standing, walking and sitting for extended amounts of time. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination Includes full range of body motion including potential of handling and lifting patients. Requires corrected vision, hearing and speech within normal ranges. Must be able to effectively communicate with patients and team members. The base pay range for this position is $75.12 to $98 per hour. Pay range may vary depending on work location, applicable knowledge, skills, and experience.
