Assist doctors with charting Chart auditing, CPT and ICD-9 review Venipunctures, EKG's, Vital Signs, Blood draws, and Injections Prep patients for examination and treatment, and assist during minor office procedures Prepare exam and treatment rooms (instrument preparation and sterilization, prescription refills, faxing, and filing) Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications Medical Assistant experience CPT I certification Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs and IM injections. Job Description The Medical Coordinator (LVN) is responsible for delivering high quality medical care and influencing positive outcomes for patients experiencing homelessness in the recuperative care setting. We have many schedules available for this role, including weekends and nights. The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $36.00 per hour, depending on experience . Workdays may vary. Part Time - Per Diem position. Work site may vary based on operational needs. Your Role on the Team The position of Nurse Practitioner 2 in the Department of Surgery, requires a highly competent, independent yet team-oriented individual who will be immersed in the management and coordination of all inpatient care for the various division of department of surgery, including Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Service. Duties include and not limited to assessing health needs, planning and evaluating care of all patients on the general surgery services as well as patients in the surgical intensive care unit. The nurse practitioner will participate with inpatient sign out at beginning and end of shift. Follows up with the General Surgery teams/residents/attending physicians. Will be involved in trauma resuscitations and performing surgical consultations on potential general surgery patients. Responsibility for care and organization of procedures (including scheduling operations, interventional procedures, etc) and follow-up, obtain consults as needed, and discharge patients (including discharge summary, instructions, and medications) when appropriate. Responsible for the reviewing critical labs, follow-up of results with patient and medical staff, obtaining comprehensive medical histories, performing initial and periodic physical examinations/assessments, and exploring patient’s interpretation of health needs. Incumbent will identify and treat patients and manage treatment of hospitalized patients. The NP demonstrates an advanced level of medical knowledge, clinical/technical competence, sound clinical judgment, professional communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. Under the supervision of Chief of Trauma, Burns, and Critical Care Services and guided by the applicable policies and procedures, the Nurse Practitioner will participate in the comprehensive care of patients in the ambulatory or inpatient settings and provide multi-disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians. Change bed linens, diapers and clothing as often as necessary. • Do not permit residents to smoke in bed. • Assure that the nurse’s call system is attached to the bed and within easy reach at all times when residents are bedfast. • Answer residents’ call lights promptly. • Check for food in residents’ room. Ensure that food is kept in a sealed container. • Report all complaints to the Charge Nurse. • Report any resident abuse immediately (ie., harsh/abusive language, unnecessary roughness, etc.) • Report any medication found in the resident’s room. Shampoo hair on shower days. • Clip and trim fingernails. • Shave male residents daily or as needed. • Keep hair under arms and face on female residents clean-shaven as necessary or instructed. Trim hair in nose and ears as needed. • Observe and report the presence of reddened areas on bony prominences. • Keep drainage bag off the floor when resident is in bed or in wheelchair. • Apply Vaseline or A & D ointment to dry skin in accordance with established policies. • Move and turn bedfast residents at least every two hours and record such information on CNA notes. • Observe disoriented and comatose residents and notify Charge Nurse immediately. • Apply postural support properly. Ensures optimal pain control and patient comfort; identifies and discusses patient anxieties, fears or concerns regarding patient condition, treatment or discharge. Ensures that patient understands medication purpose, side effects, and administration instructions in the hospital as well as at the time of discharge . Documentation: Charting is accurate, legible, dated, and timed. Documentation reflects nursing process and interventions and evaluations taken. Utilizes computer systems effectively and efficiently for optimal patient care. Clinical Outcomes: Discusses patient findings and progress toward outcomes with physicians and other members of the health care team. Demonstrates competencies during the probationary period and ongoing completion by departmental competency validation. Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of data, assessments, and evaluations of patient outcomes.
