Responsibilities* Provide expert nursing care to gastroenterology patients in the outpatient clinics. Provide telephone triage, patient teaching, direct patient care including injections, documentation with follow-up and coordination with ancillary services and related departments. Three (3) years within the last five years as a registered nurse, caring for adults with acute or chronic conditions in an ambulatory care, inpatient unit, or GI/Hepatology procedural setting. Proficiency with MiChart management and documentation in electronic health record, e.g., Epic as indicated by interviews, references, and or performance evaluation in past 3 out of 5 years RN experience. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills as evidence by resume, annual evaluations, and references. Desired Qualifications* 1 year, within the last five years, caring for the hepatology patient population. Required Qualifications* Applicant Must Meet One Of The Following Bachelors of Science in Nursing OR Associates degree or diploma in Nursing and a Masters degree in Nursing. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan. Minimum of five (5) years RN experience Minimum of two (2) years of recent (within the last 5 years) of reasonable progressively responsible clinical experience in an adult specialties service line. Minimum of one (1) year ambulatory experience in the last 5 years strongly desired. Demonstrated leadership skills including creative and effective problem-solving, ability to effectively collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, and ability to direct nursing practice and apply critical thinking skills/judgment to a variety of situations. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion is a 12-story hospital that will house 264 private rooms capable of converting to intensive care; a state-of-the-art neurosciences center. High-level, specialty care services for cardiovascular and thoracic patients will also be housed, along with advanced imaging. The 690,000 square foot hospital which also features twenty surgical and three interventional radiology suites is being constructed adjacent to the Frankel Cardiovascular Center, with plans for bridge and tunnel connections to existing inpatient care facilities. Responsibilities* The Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is a 24 bed ICU that cares for patients from neurosurgery, neurology, stroke, otolaryngology, and oral maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) services. Medical problems most often treated on this unit include: thrombectomies, post-operative craniotomies for brain tumors, cerebral aneurysms, intracranial hemorrhage/hematomas, severe head and/or spinal cord injuries, increased intracranial pressure, caring for and assessing free flaps, doppler usage, tracheostomy care/management, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), Myasthenia Gravis, Status Epilepticus, and Guillain-Barre syndrome. The Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) has been awarded the AACN Beacon Award for excellence! Required Qualifications* Current Michigan RN license Three (3) years of general care experience in neurology, stroke, cardiology, step-down. Job Summary The University of Michigan Congenital Heart Center is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Cardiac Procedures Nurse for the Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs. This position is located at CS Mott Children's Hospital. Diagnostic as well as interventional cardiac procedures are performed in the labs and include, but are not limited to, balloon angioplasty, transcatheter valve placements, stenting, biopsies, PICC line placements, hybrid procedures, and electrophysiology studies. Responsibilities* Primary job responsibilities consist of the diverse roles of patient prep, monitoring, circulating (catheter and equipment retrieval) and hemodynamic recording during catheterization procedures on a diverse patient population with known or suspected congenital or acquired cardiac disease. Patient population includes fetuses, infants, children, and adults. Other Job Responsibilities May Include Performing conscious sedation as needed following university policies and procedures. Performing various lab testing including ACTs, ABGs and oxygen saturations during procedures. Performing necessary QC/QA on equipment. Obtaining medications from the Pyxis. Serving as an educational resource for the cardiac catheterization laboratories, including participation in orientation and education of other team members regarding inventory, best practices, infection control, and other areas as needed. Assisting with research protocols as needed. Required Qualifications* Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan. Minimum one (1) year recent (within last 18 months) Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Laboratory nursing experience to include circulating or Minimum three (3) years critical care Congenital Heart nursing experience to include familiarity with sterile technique and bedside procedures Certification in BLS required. SUMMARY: Under the management of the PACE SEMI’s Community Living Manager and the coordination of the Lead CLA, the Community Living Associate (CLA) provides supportive services to the participants (residents); including but not limited to the community setting, during transport and on appointments, or in the day health center while under the supervision of the manager, registered nurse, or lead CLA. The CLA’s responsibilities for each participant are specified in the CLA Care Plan. SUMMARY: The P articipant Care Associate (PCA), provides supportive services to the participant; including but not limited to in the home or community setting, during transport and on appointments, or and in the day health center. The PCA’s responsibilities for each participant are specified in the PCA/CNA Care Plan. The following statements are intended to describe the essential elements, functions, and requirements of the position. The list should not be taken as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of an individual assigned to this job. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS: The PCA plan of care is based on the initial and on-going assessments that are performed by a home care RNCM. The PCA assists in providing and/or maintaining optimal physical and emotional comforts to frail elders, in the participant’s home, community setting, day health center, and dementia unit, and during transport and on appointments. The PCA assists participants and their families toward achieving maximum self-reliance and independence within their environment, day health center, and dementia unit. The PCA performs the care or services that are outlined in the individual participant’s Care Plan; any Care Guidelines that are pertinent to the participant’s diagnosis are specified in the Care Plan. The PCA performs a variety of tasks and services for the participant, including: Personal Care, Assistance with activities, Assistance with meal preparation/feeding, Assistance with toileting/managing incontinence, simple treatments, shopping, medication reminder, laundry services, extending hours care, homemaking services/chores, transportation and off site appointment support. The PCA is responsible for accurate timely documentation as required by the service area they are supporting; including but not limited to the care and/or services provided on every visit and or encounter, transport and appointment, on the PCA/CNA progress note; the PCA keeps the RNCM and or clinic nurse informed of the participant’s progress. Immediately reports all customer service complaints, all deviations from set schedule and appointments to supervisor / manager. The PCA responds to emergency situations in accordance with established policies and procedures. Works only within established scope of practice. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: H.S. diploma or GED required Valid Michigan Driver's license Current CPR card required Certification is optional though preferred, but must have one (1) year experience with a frail or elderly population Experience must be in a long-term care, hospital, or home care setting Must have received certificate of completion from a formal training program (Direct Care, Nurse Assistant, Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, etc.) outside of PACE SEMI The PCA participates in annual, mandatory in-service training and screening, including but not limited to: infection control, TB testing, safety training, and BLS training The PCA must possess the ability to establish and maintain interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships The PCA shows respect for the physical, spiritual, and well-being of participants and co-workers The PCA must have the ability to problem solve and interpret instructions The PCA must be able to organize and maintain flexible scheduling to coordinate job responsibilities Ability to work sensitively with individuals of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds Ability to relate to those participants with dementia and/or developmental disabilities The PCA must be able to perform duties in an atmosphere of frequent interruption Must meet a standardized set of competencies (approval by CMS) before working independently PCA competency is monitored and maintained in a variety of ways: Initially, through a skills check-off performance evaluation of specific tasks upon hire and orientation to the program, and annually thereafter Job related competency in-services including a practicum demonstration and written assessment Mandatory in-service training Department staff meetings Must be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant contact.
