About this Job: General Summary of Position Functions as a member of the patient-centered care team to provide direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse for assigned patients and their families/significant others. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside leading cardiologists specializing in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplantation within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary academic environment. The APP will provide comprehensive inpatient management of patients with advanced cardiovascular disease, including acute and chronic heart failure, ventricular assist devices (VADs), heart transplant candidates and recipients, and patients requiring temporary mechanical circulatory support such as Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). In collaboration with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and ancillary team members, the APP will play an integral role in delivering exceptional, evidence-based care to a complex and critically ill patient population. As part of MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute, APPs are actively involved in innovative clinical programs, cutting-edge therapies, and research initiatives that help shape the future of advanced heart failure.
