General Summary of Position Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT) the Nursing Assistant Apprentice performs delegated patient care activities in consideration with the developmental needs of each patient. Assists in the measurement and documentation of patients' intake and output (I&O). Accurately completes and records patient's vital signs height and weight abdominal girth head circumference pulse oximetry and other pertinent data or information in the patient's health record. Maintains the comfort privacy confidentiality and dignity of each patient in the delivery of services. Performs patient observation duty including 1:1 observation and safe application of restraints. Assists in preparing patients to be seen by providers and assists providers and RNs in patient examinations tests and procedures. Rounds on assigned patients based on established standards (e.g. hourly purposeful rounding). Reports actual and potential problems concerning patients/families including changes in the patient's condition to the RN and other care team members as necessary.
