General Summary: Under the direction of the Office Manager, the Medical Assistant performs administrative and clinical duties to care for patients in an ambulatory setting. Administrative duties include maintaining medical records, handling patient calls and completing forms. Clinical duties include measuring and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination and administering medications as directed by physician or advance practice providers. The Medical Assistant plays an integral role in the care team model. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: High school degree (or GED) required. Current Certification as Medical Assistant required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required by 3/1/2025. Escorts patients to exam room, interviews patients, measures vital signs and document all information in patient’s medical record. Reviews patient’s medical record to determine needed services and whether referrals are in process or have been completed since last visit. Assists physician or advance practice providers during examination or procedure. Provides patient with information and instructions as authorized by physician or advanced practice provider. Keeps exam room stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintains instruments and prepares them for sterilization and storage. Provides clerical support which may include completing forms/requisitions, answering phones, sending/receiving medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information. Cleans rooms between patient visits in accordance with infection prevention and control standards. Administers medications and immunizations under authorization and supervision of physicians and/or advance practice providers. Processes messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and advance practice providers. Processes messages and call backs to patients, medical offices and pharmacies. Processes medication refills according to protocols. Maintains all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperature, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, sterilization fluid charge etc.) Performs EKG’s and simple (CLIA waived testing) medical office laboratory and screening tests. Collects and processes blood samples and other non-blood specimens for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. Participates in process improvement activities to enhance patient care and service.

In this role you will be responsible for the safe administration of all prescribed medications and treatments as listed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR), provides personal are and general nursing care to residents as needed or assigned, ensures delivery of care and services to all residents in the community to include Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), room cleanliness, scheduled activities and dining services and individual service plan need of each assigned resident.Job DescriptionResponsible for supervision of self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department in compliance with Federal & State regulations and Senior Lifestyle Corporation guidelines as directed by the LPN/LVN/RN and/or the Assisted Living Director/Health and Wellness Director.Count and sign on approved form, all narcotics with approved personnel before accepting medication keys. Contact a supervisor immediately with discrepancies.Order all necessary medication and treatments from appropriate pharmacy or notify responsible party when supply is no less than 7 days.Notify supervisor when supply is less than 2 days and medicine hasn’t been received.Responsible for receiving and verifying all medicine received is accurate according to pharmacy label and MAR. Notifies pharmacy and DH&W of any discrepancies.Responsible for proper storage of all medications and ensuring all lotions, ointments and liquids stored separately from oral medications.Responsible for dating all appropriate vials or bottles at time of initial opening and following pharmacy protocol on length of time they can be used.Responsible for weekly inspections of all medications to ensure all expired medications are removed.Responsible for verifying all current MARs are compared to new MARs at change over time and notifying the supervisor of any discrepancies.Responsible for removing all discontinued medication from med cart and giving it to the supervisor.Provide personal care to residents to include, but not limited to, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating, etc.Provide general nursing care to include, but not limited to, vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.Document appropriate information in the daily log as required and notify supervisor of all concerns.Answer calls and assist residents with needs as assigned.Responsible for daily cleaning of all medicine carts at end of shift and restocking as needed. The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for performing a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residents and to coordinate total nursing care for residents; for participating with the Director of Nursing and the Unit Managers in establishing specific goals; for ensuring compliance with all operating policies and procedures and Michigan Department of Health regulations and Federal Health Care Administration regulations; for communicating with and supervising appropriate personnel; for providing daily reports and other periodic reports; and for performing all the duties of a Certified Nurse Aide when required. CPR certification required. Two years of professional nursing experience in the long-term care setting is preferred. Specific skills, knowledge, and abilities: Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations that apply to the practice of nursing in a long-term care setting. Has strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities. Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Basic computer knowledge is required. Other Special Requirements: Tolerate frequent exposure to blood, body tissues, and fluids with occasional exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases. As well as, frequent exposure to chemicals and latex, and plastic materials used for personal protective equipment. Manual dexterity required to operate modern office equipment. This role ensures each patients' encounter is professional, warm and caring while meeting a patient's individual needs. Schedule: Part-time - Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Responsibilities: Obtain patient's health history and accurately enter into Electronic Medical Record Set up and prepare exam room for patient visit to ensure cleanliness Perform any preliminary physical tests and obtain vitals Set up any additional diagnostic and/or treatment equipment Administer injections and perform phlebotomy as needed Complete all documentation pertaining to patient's medical record, test requests, medications and patient education with accuracy and timeliness May perform Scribe duties Assist the physician as directed Must work well in a team environment Qualifications: Experience in a medical office setting and/or graduation from a certified Medical Assistant program is required Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) (Preferred) Bachelor’s degree (Preferred) 1+ years in a medical office Experience with EMR system(s) and medical terminology is required Previous experience at an OBGYN office (Preferred) What’s in it for you?
