Schedule & Shifts Rotating day and night shifts scheduled in 4-6 week blocks. 13-hour shifts, averaging 6 shifts over a 2-week period. Extra shifts (day or night) are available for those interested. Clinical Responsibilities Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including Cardiac Surgeons and an in-house night Intensivist. Deliver comprehensive care to cardiovascular ICU patients, supporting the post-surgical and critical care continuum. Qualifications APRN candidates must hold Acute Care Certification to be considered. Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in Cardiovascular ICU is preferred. Relevant RN experience may be considered. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the Rush University Medical Center medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. Join the University of Chicago Medicine as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) on the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for the comprehensive management of critically ill adult patients in collaboration with attending physicians, fellows, residents, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary team members. The APP provides evidence-based critical care to patients with complex surgical, trauma, transplant, and emergency general surgery conditions. In this role, you will provide direct care to patients, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentials committee, to include identification, management, and/or referral of health problems. Conduct comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develop patient care plans within clinical practice and medical care protocols.
