Coordinates care across key treatment phases, including conditioning, lymphodepletion, cell collection, infusion/transplant, and discharge planning. Monitors patient progress and coordination needs throughout treatment, proactively identifying issues and escalating clinical concerns as appropriate. Identifies patients who may qualify for clinical trials, supports protocol-specific workup activities, and notifies appropriate staff of potential cellular therapy candidates. Patient Education and Caregiver Support Provides individualized education to patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, timelines, testing requirements, symptom management, infection prevention, medication adherence, and follow-up expectations. Reinforces education at key transition points and supports informed decision-making and patient engagement across the care continuum. Identifies barriers to care progression and treatment readiness and connects patients to appropriate resources and team members to facilitate timely treatment. Connects patients with supportive services (e.g., social work, rehabilitation, financial advocacy) to address holistic care needs. Financial Coordination and Payer Navigation Partnership Collaborates closely with the Transplant Financial Case Navigator to ensure timely insurance authorization and financial clearance across all phases of transplant and cellular therapy care. Provides necessary clinical documentation to support payer requirements, facilitates communication between clinical and financial teams, and helps mitigate delays related to coverage, approvals, or benefit limitations. Regulatory, Accreditation, and Program Compliance Ensures accurate, timely documentation of coordination activities, patient education, and clinical communication. Job Overview Fairview has an immediate opening for a Collection Lab RN at the Clinics and Surgery Center on the University of Minnesota East Bank Campus. This position is approved for a 1.0 FTE (80 hours every two weeks) and consists of 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with start times between 6:15 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Weekend rotation is required approximately every 8th to 10th weekend, and holiday coverage is available on a volunteer basis. The Collection Lab RN performs both independent nursing and delegated medical functions. The independent nursing includes assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for assigned patient population(s) in the ambulatory care setting. The delegated medical functions include participation in and coordination of delegated patient care to other health care team members. The Collection Lab RN is responsible for performing these functions and working in collaboration with providers and care team to perform these functions in accordance with all policy, procedure, and professional practice guidelines. The Collection Lab RN manages central lines for patients in the outpatient space and delivers care that is sensitive to the unique needs of the ages served by the clinic. This RN performs sterile procedures such as PORT access and access to other central venous catheters to draw central or peripheral labs as part of the patient's treatment plan pre, post, or independent of a clinic or infusion appointment. Additional care may include but is not limited to central and peripheral IV initiation and management, order management, medication administration, monitoring response to interventions, prompt recognition and intervention of emergency situations, preparing and delivering patient education, monitoring and taking vital signs, chart reviews, documentation, phone triage, coordination of care with providers and care team including rooming and discharging, assessing appointments, and monitoring standards of care.
