The Surgical Technologist III in 701 Surgery provides care for adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older. The surgical technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. The Surgical Technologist III understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. The Surgical Technologist III has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
