Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other specialized tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data on new and former clinic patients and hospital admissions to establish a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan. 2. Must be able to work with a collaborating physician. 3. Performs and interprets, standard laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes as privileged by Genesis Credentialing Board 4. Performs routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, managing simple conditions produced by infection or trauma, assisting in the management of more complex illness and injury as privileged by the Genesis Credentialing Board. 5. May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority through applicable state Board of Nursing/Medicine and Genesis Credentialing Board. 6. May need to take call and work some off-hour shifts as needed. 7. Perform in-hospital consultations. Facilitates appropriate length of stay, discharge planning, and compliance with regulatory standards for inpatient management. 8. Ensures continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team or with other specialty areas as necessary 9. Participates in quality monitoring thru the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes periodically to assure quality care 10. Discharge planning – Dictates discharge summaries, writes prescriptions, explains discharge instructions and confirms follow-up appointments. 11. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS 1. APRN: EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited APRN training program. 2. Current Ohio RN and APRN licensure 3. Must have a current certificate of authority and certificate to prescribe (or eligible) by the Ohio Board of Nursing. 4. Current DEA registration (for Interventional Radiology only) 5. Overview of the position: Our 24- bed Critical Care Unit provides optimal care to trauma, surgical, respiratory and cardiac patients. The CCU RN must work successfully in a fast paced environment while caring for critically ill patients. The incumbent must utilize quick critical thinking skills and be a strong patient advocate. The RN plans, provides and/or supervises the nursing care of patients in an efficient and caring manner. The individual must adhere to universal precautions, and be compliant with infection control policies. The CCU RN works independently with minimal supervision and collaborates with physicians and other disciplines to ensure quality patient care. Once experienced in the CCU, the RN has the ability to become relief charge nurse, care for CVVHD, IABP, and be a member of the open heart recovery team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. CPR certification within 30 days of employment. 3. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) within one year of employment in CCU. 4. One year experience in acute care setting. 5. Ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff. 6. Attention to detail. 7. Ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge. 9.
