Incumbents identify and plan the proper instrumentation and implementation for operative procedures; ensure proper sterile and aseptic techniques within the surgical environment; and assist the surgical team by setting up and passing sterile instruments and equipment. The Surgical Technologist 1, under the direction of a Surgical Technologist 2, or a Registered Nurse will: Assist the Registered Nurse and surgeon in identifying, gathering, and preparing medical instrumentation and specialty equipment for surgical procedures. Assist surgical team with the setting up and passing of sterile instruments during surgical procedures. Ensure the proper handling of instruments, sponges, sutures, implants, surgical supplies, and specimens in a manner that ensures asepsis and patient safety.
