Formulates differential diagnosis and the plan of care based on medical history, physical exams, nursing assessment and other pertinent information. Identifies health and medical risks and needs. Develops, implements, and evaluates patient plan of care. Determines effectiveness and modifies as per clinical standards and practice protocols, where needed, to achieve medical and health goals. Orders, conducts, and interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests. Identifies and may prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions and therapies. Manages a patient session schedule allowing for both scheduled and non-emergent unscheduled visits; maintains a work schedule that ensures availability and continuity of care; ensures optimal availability and utilization of appropriate resources. Provides education, guidance, and direction to psychiatric nursing staff and other appropriate members of the health care team to ensure quality and safe medical and nursing care is provided.
