PER DIEM (2 days weekly minimum) OPERATING ROOM REGISTERED NURSE The Advanced Center for Surgery is a busy, multispecialty ambulatory surgery center in Vero Beach, performing outpatient procedures in Orthopedics and Neurology. JOB SUMMARY: Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all age patients in operating room. Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center. Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to physicians, patients, family members, and personnel in other departments as well as team members. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the Clinical Director, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits and projects. Circulating nurses may ensure all patient paperwork is completed, such as consent forms. During the procedure, nurses may also document what takes place. They are a patient advocate in that they assure that safety procedures are being met. Circulating nurses may also replenish surgical supplies as needed during the procedure. After the procedure, they may verify instrument count and complete charting and other related duties. Being detail oriented is also a needed skill for OR nurses. Small mistakes in the operating room can have a big impact on a patient’s condition. Nurses must also be able to handle several things at once. For instance, they may need to listen to the surgeon, monitor the patient and assist with the procedure at the same time. Ideal candidate will be focused on excellent customer service, have the ability to multi-task, the ability to show flexibility in assignments, maintain scrupulous infection control standards, maintain professional competencies and have the ability to work as part of an interdependent multidisciplinary team. Required Education: Associate's Degree Specific course work: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position.
