Indianapolis Education and Support Srvcs Center 421 N Emerson Ave Greenwood, Indiana 46143 The Supervisor Surgery Scheduling RN directs, organizes, coordinates and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Surgery Schedulers and Reimbursement Specialists. This position ensures clinical documentation is reviewed for completeness and supports charges for care provided, staff education related to documentation opportunities, and surgery charges are entered appropriately and timely. The Supervisor works with Revenue Management and Coding to ensure charges and practices are consistent and in compliance with regulations. Charge Audit Conducts audits of medical records against the itemized billings and arranges for reconciliation to correct discrepancies; serves as liaison between finance, charging and physicians. Management Collaboration Collaborates with other members of management to integrate department into overall regional hospital goals. Compliance Inspections Inspects areas for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes preventative steps and corrective action when violations occur. Policy Development Support Assists in developing policies, procedures, and instructional materials. Staffing Needs Assigns a staffing schedule to provide volume-based staffing and satisfies the needs of the customer. Responds to emergency staffing shortages assisting as needed. Performance Management Supervises the work of others and manages the performance of individuals through feedback and recommendations. People Management Activities Participates in people management activities for direct team members such as conducting performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and interviews. Statistics and Reports Coordinates the completion of statistics and reports. Oversees utilization statistics for block scheduling. Scheduling Coordinates scheduling with Surgery Departments and Anesthesia and addresses scheduling problems to ensure adequate coverage. Documentation Requests Support Assists medical staff and physician office staff with questions related to documentation requirements. General Statement of Duties: The Registered Nurse PPOP PACU provides nursing care and service during the preoperative and postoperative periods, integrating and making nursing judgments pertaining to the patient’s condition on a routine and emergency basis. The position oversees the supervision of all non-licensed personnel, while also receiving direction from Physicians. Essential Duties: Monitors and assesses patient condition and reports any unusual symptoms, occurrences or discrepancies to manager and appropriate Physicians. Completes treatments and procedures as ordered and assigned by the Physician, consistent with patient complexity and commensurate with the skill, knowledge, and training of the individual. Provides care safely, with adequate quality, quantity, and timeliness and according to applicable standards. Admits patients to all areas within pre and post-operative and post-anesthesia services, and receives and reviews pre post-operative report. Sets-up, operates and monitors the use of various systems, equipment and instrumentation required for the care of patients. Reviews and initiates Physician’s orders, administers medication, parenteral fluids and treatment as needed. Provides instruction, information, and counseling to patients and their families as needed. Distributes educational material as appropriate. Maintains medication and nursing documentation within the patient record. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and development levels of patients served. FLSA Status Non-Exempt #EXPRN #CAMPUSRN Job Role Summary The Staff Nurse provides clinical care and uses coordination skills for every patient served.
