The primary purpose of LPN charge Nurse is to provide direct nursing care to the residents and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current Federal, State and Local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. Schedule: Monday-Friday with every other weekend Administrative Functions: a. Along with the Unit Manager, ensure written Policy and procedure is followed by all nursing personnel on the unit. b. Ensure nursing staff and C.N.A’s are following their respective job descriptions. c. Perform administrative duties such as completing the transfer, monthlies, nurse’s notes, reports, etc., as necessary. d. Give/receive the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours e. Co-responsible for knowledge of all Infection Control policies. f. Co-responsible for knowledge of all safety and fire regulations. g. Attend in-service programs, both in and out of the facility, to increase professional competence. h. Co-responsible for knowledge of all personnel policies. i. Administer professional services such as, but not limited to catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, etc. Oversee and ensure completion of weights (daily, weekly and monthly). Assist with discharge planning process. Facilitating discharge on day of discharge. Other duties as assigned New Admissions Responsibilities: a. Ensure that rooms are ready for new admissions. b. Place medication MD orders for all new admissions in the event that the Admission Nurse is not in the building. c. Greet newly admitted residents upon admission. Escort to room as necessary. d. Participate in the orientation of new residents/family members to the facility. e. Follow up next morning to ensure all meds delivered or not delivered are addressed with appropriate hold order. NOTE: In the event that a LPN who is scheduled on a medication cart calls in, you will be responsible to pass medications for that shift.
