As an ACS Level III-N Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center affiliated with Mass General, it offers high-acuity care, complemented by a secure 6-bed behavioral health unit for psychiatric emergencies. To handle rising patient volumes, the department uses hallway beds and a triage fast-track area staffed by Providers in Triage (PIT).
