Here you will work alongside our Gastroenterology (GI) team. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. Eligible for a Sign-On Bonus up to $2,500! Our UChicago Medicine Northbrook location will offer urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery, gynecology (specifically endometriosis and uterine fibroids) and gastroenterology (IBD, general gastroenterology and motility disorders), as well as infusion (non-chemotherapy) and blood draw lab services. A Registered Nurse, UCM Care Network, is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients including assessment, treatment, care planning, and medical care evaluation by following established standards, protocols and practices. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff and physicians. This position will be located in a community-based physician practice. Essential Job Functions Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response Delegates as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act. About this role The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Working under the supervision of RN(s), the LPN provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities that align with their education and demonstrated competencies. Additional Details We are looking for a part time LPN to join our clinical team at McHenry County Jail. This position works 3 evening shifts a week, 2p-10:30p and every other weekend. What you bring to the table Education Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Experience Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience Licenses/Certifications Have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse within the state of employment. Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification. What you will do Under RN supervision, assesses patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions in both the Health Care Unit and housing units, contributing to individualized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as needed. Implements treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administering medications, including IV therapy (if certified), and performing diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures. Collaborates in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines. Assists in medical or minor surgical procedures, implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel. Attends mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in providing high-quality patient care.
