The Level IV M60 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) provides expert care to adult patients with suspected or confirmed seizure disorders. Caregivers in this unit are passionate about supporting both the physical and mental struggles associated with these conditions, as many patients experience high anxiety due to the uncertainty of diagnosis and treatment. A caregiver in this position works 36 hrs per week rotating days/nights from 7:00AM - 7:30PM or 7:00PM - 7:30AM. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direct nursing care. Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans. Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions. Administer prescribed medications and treatments. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. Educate patients and their families. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred . Family Educator/Advocate: Educate the patient and family on the disease process using teach back methods to ensure patient and family understanding policies. Complete all clinical documentation following agency protocol and Medicare/Federal guidelines. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and physicians to ensure optimal care is provided. Rules and Regulations: Understand and follow agency policies, procedures, rules, and regulations and communicate changes in schedule/availability to schedulers or supervisors. Operations: Attend in-service training and mandatory agency meetings HARD & SOFT SKILLS: Compassionate communicator with a positive attitude Patience is a virtue when working with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers Attention to detail is critical, as is being observant and following directions. REQUIREMENTS: Registered Nurse with current license in the state of employment. Minimum one-year experience as an RN in an acute care setting.
