A contract opportunity is open for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to support a medically fragile, non-verbal student attending an extended school year (ESY) and traditional year (NSY) program. This role is located near Cambridge, MA, with convenient access from Malden, Somerville, and Arlington. The assignment runs four days per week, Tuesday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Youll travel with the student from Medford to a specialized educational setting, ensuring safety and wellness throughout the commute and school day. Responsibilities include: Providing consistent, attentive nursing care during transportation and at school Conducting clinical assessments and closely monitoring medical status Maintaining airway patency and managing seizure activity if needed Monitoring comfort and vital signs using provided equipment (O2 saturation, heart rate monitor) Administering emergency oxygen, anticonvulsant medication, or suction as indicated Detailed documentation of all nursing interventions and assessments Effective communication with the classroom nurse, parents, and school health supervisors Background sought: Current Massachusetts RN license in good standing Clinical experience with medically complex pediatric populations preferred Competency in airway management, seizure precautions, and non-verbal patient care Experience with wheelchair-dependent students and medical equipment in transit a plus Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills Imagine yourself as a trusted support for a student and family who rely on your clinical judgment and calm under pressure.
