OVERVIEW Provides compassionate, culturally sensitive, holistic nursing care to patients in a clinical setting, supporting the Mercyhealth nursing mission, practice values and strategic plan. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws practice act. Documents according to standards of care. Performs assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and or clinic policy including patient and family instruction. Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance. Utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units’ departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care. Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command. Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Graduate of an accredited nursing program. ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred. In accordance with professional standards of care and adhering to corporate philosophy of OSFMG, the advanced practice nurse/physician assistant shall be responsible for: Providing high quality patient care to the patients of OSF. Providing such professional Advanced Practice services. Maintaining the consistency and quality of all services provided to the Practice and its patients. Maintaining full and current patient medical records, including reports of all examinations, procedures, and other services performed by Provider or other support staff. Exercising diligence in assisting the Ministry CEO in keeping costs of the Practice to a minimum while maintaining a high level of quality care for patients. Providing a truly personalized, patient-centric experience to patients of the Practice and the OSF Hospital aligned to the patient's preferences, goals and needs.
