Job Summary and Qualifications Position Summary: The oncology/hematology nurse will care for patients with autoimmune, hematological disorders and common cancers . He/she will be proficient in venous access device accession, chemotherapy, phlebotomy, assisting with bone marrow aspiration, IV therapy, biotherapy administration and the administration of blood and blood products . Clinical trials participation, rehabilitation and collaboration with other entities are but some of the other functions the oncology/hematology nurse can expect to assist in. Job Summary: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry. Responsibilities: Qualified nurses must possess critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. One year of experience in infusion nursing and home health experience is preferred. Provides quality in-home care and infusions as defined within the scope of practice by the Nurse Practice Act. Administration and self-administration teaching of specialty pharmacy infusion therapies and injectables to patients with rare, chronic, and acute diseases in the home setting, infusion suites, or physicians' offices. Proficient in accessing and maintaining SPC/PIV/Midlines, CVAD (PICC/Implanted Ports), SCIG, phlebotomy, and lab processing. Follows proper infection control measures. Coordinates the planning for delivery of nursing care with the Director of Nursing and administers appropriate clinical decisions in the delivery of patient care. Proactively updates client/patients’ POC, health changes, and other related incidents. Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific differences in the patient population, including physiological and developmental differences unique to each group. Ensures safe care to patients; adheres to all policies, procedures, and standards, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service Willingness to travel within the assigned geographic region. Flexibility to work alternate shifts on short notice and can be on call for field visits as determined by business needs. Administers CPR and other emergency procedures, as necessary. Qualifications: Licensed as a Registered Nurse through the State Board of Nursing is required. Home health experience preferred – Can perform assessments, wound care, medication management, and infusions. Minimum of two years medical, surgical, or critical care/ER experience preferred. Minimum of one year of recent infusion experience preferred. Summary: - The LPN works with the practice team to provide direct and indirect patient care in the office setting under the supervision of the Practice Providers and the Practice Manager within the LPN scope of practice. This includes but is not limited to, utilization of skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care through the use of hospital and practice nursing standards. Work Environment: The incumbent in this position is not required to work under any extreme conditions, but may be required to work around caustic chemicals approximately 5% of the time, and must be able to work around a moderate noise level, such as an office environment. Physical Demands: The incumbent in this position typically has to stand approximately 40% of the time, walk 50% of the time, and sit 10-80% of the time associated with a typical office environment. In addition, the person is using touch or feel 80% of the time, and reaches with their arms or hands approximately 80% of the time. This person may have to stoop, kneel, crouch 30% of the time, and talk or hear 100% of the time. Accountability: As part of the care team the LPN is accountable for the oversight of the clinical practice, outcomes and success of patient care and experience in the Practice setting. .
