Obtains and assembles positional devices (fracture tables, Jackson tables, cerebellar headrests). Practices safety precautions throughout the perioperative phase of patient care. Handles all “sharps” in a safe and protective manner in consideration of self and others in supportive roles, such as Core Techs, environmental services, and CPD staff. Participates in “time-outs” prior to the start of surgical procedures according to hospital policy guidelines. Verifies medications, concentrations, expiration dates of all medications received on the sterile field in concert with the circulating RN. Handles and dispenses medications, irrigation solutions, and flushes (e.g. epi: 1:1000, local anesthetics, antibiotic irrigation) to surgeon within the sterile field. Handles, prepares, and dispenses hemostatic agents (e.g. thrombin, tisseal, floseal) to the surgeon within the sterile field. The Day Center CNA ( Certified Nurse Assistant) works at our Adult Day Health Center assisting participants with ADLs (activities of daily living) and providing both restorative and supportive care. Follow the care plan and assist participants with daily activities like bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, mouth care, eating, and toileting. Document care provided in accordance with established policies, guidelines, and applicable regulations. Carry out, reports and documents care given in an effective, timely manner as observed by the RN and through periodic record reviews. Assist participants with restorative and supportive care such as ambulating, positioning, transferring, skin care, catheters, fills oxygen and provides other aides as assigned or needed.
