Attending residents’ meetings as needed, Provides health related update to team and family as appropriate. Communicating with physician’s regarding client’s needs, the nursing assessments and recommendations. Collaborating with team members of the treatments to ensure the client’s well-being. Performing assessments/evaluations for potential clients and create nursing care plans as needed. Work as part of a healthcare team to assess patient needs, plan and modify care, implement individual nursing care plan. Provide basic patient care or treatments such as dressing wounds, treating bedsores, massaging, or performing catheterizations. Measure and record patient’s vital signs, administer medications and maintain information in electronic health system. Provide training to staff. Completing audits as per stringent regulatory requirements. Implementing necessary diet changes when applicable . Ensuring physical , medical, and immunization requirements are completed as per our regulations. All other duties as assigned per the Devereux standards of care by the Director of Nursing or Nurse Manager. PACU is located on the third floor of the Pavilion and Kelemen building. There is also an area on Pavilion 2. Patients here can often be sent home following the procedure or are admitted to the hospital. This is based upon the procedure performed and the necessary recovery needed. If admitted the patient is transferred to the appropriate floor for continued recovery and discharge. The PACU sees infants to geriatrics. Here the patients are closely monitor while they are waking up from the anesthesia they received during the procedure. Depending on the procedure and the orders received from the physicians the patient will be discharged home or admitted to the hospital. First Pre-Admission Testing, located in 3 Cooper calls to review a patient’s health information prior to a surgical procedure. Once approval for the recommended surgical procedure is finalized and patient information is reviewed the patient is provided with information on when and where to report. Once arrived and registered the patient is escorted to the appropriate location to be prepped for surgical procedure. These RN’s prep the patient for the procedure. They review medical history, medical procedures and place an IV. Patients are met by Anesthesia and their Surgeon. Once everything is reviewed and verified the patient then goes to the OR. Overview Kelemen 10 is a medical-surgical unit that cares for patients who have various needs and disease processes. Both North and South 10 have Telemetry capabilities for our patients. Each side houses 36 patients to a maximum of 72 patients. South 10 has a 12-bed Intermediate Care Unit embedded within the 36-bed unit. INCU has critically care-trained RNs who support the patient's needs and care for ventilated patients. South 10 also has 2 negative pressure isolation rooms with an anti-room that is used when needed for specific isolation needs. We do multidisciplinary rounds Monday – Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities.
