Position Summary Position Overview: Title: Senior Nurse Intern Department: Trauma Med/Surg Site: Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital Location: St. Petersburg, Florida Position Type: Part-Time - 24 hours per week Shift: Day Shift Student nursing position to transition into nurse residency program. Nurses on this unit round with trauma surgeons and are expected to validate telemetry rhythms. Performs increased or continuous visual observation for Baker Act, behavioral health, and suicide risk patients as assigned and utilizes the Safe Patient Room Environment Checklist during staff changes or transfer of care for Baker Act, behavioral health, and suicide risk patients. Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs. Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self, and other members of the healthcare team. Ensures patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality. Follows standard precautions. Adheres to Hand Hygiene and PPE procedures. Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the registered nurse (RN) and other members of the healthcare team. Participates in handoff report and conducts purposeful hourly rounding on patients. Documents information according to Orlando Health specific policies and guidelines. Transports and assists patients through the admission and discharge process. Also transports Baker Act, behavioral health, and suicide risk patients to diagnostic testing and procedures. Maintains a safe and clean environment. Provides exceptional service and care to all patients, families, customers, and team members. Transports and delivers items, equipment, blood products, and medications (excluding substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility. May have limited access to areas storing medications. Receives and processes incoming calls, patient calls, and guest requests. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
