Practice the art and science of evidence-based advanced nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Units at Rady Children's Hospital! This specialized role supports the three distinct units that comprise Hematology/Oncology: the Inpatient Unit, the Outpatient Clinic, and the Proton Therapy Unit. The CNS will focus on 3 main responsibilities: Comprehensive Patient Care : As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will act as a valuable resource for medically complex patients, providing specialized planning and coordination of care. The Peckham Center is the largest pediatric cancer care provider and only pediatric blood and bone marrow transplant (BMT) program in San Diego, Riverside, and Imperial Counties. The Inpatient Hematology/Oncology Unit consists of 38 beds, all in private rooms, and includes 10 BMT beds in positive pressure rooms. We partner with California Protons to offer proton therapy. The Outpatient Clinic works closely with both the Inpatient Unit and Proton to provide comprehensive care to those in outpatient treatment. In addition to patient care, we have a research alliance with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and UC San Diego, and follow Children’s Oncology Group (COG) treatment protocols. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree 2 years of experience Current California RN License Current California CNS License BLS issued by the American Heart Association APHON Certification PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate Degree 5 years of experience Previous CNS experience in a pediatric hematology/oncology unit.
