Overview Assesses patient/family health problems and resources, takes a leadership role in the development, implementation and outcomes evaluation of a plan for nursing care provided by the nursing team. Provides technical nursing care and interventions to designated patient populations. This position requires providing service to a one or more age populations including an ill neonate through geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. The nurse practitioner will be involved in resuscitations of surgical patients from the ED and ICU. Responsibilities include coordination of procedures (including scheduling operations and other procedures, etc) and follow-up, admit and discharge patients (including admission H&P, orders, discharge summary, instructions, and medications) when appropriate. The nurse practitioner will triage phone calls from patients and nurses and be responsible for the reviewing critical labs, follow-up of results with patients and medical staff, obtaining comprehensive medical histories, performing initial and daily physical examinations/assessments, and exploring patient’s health needs in a trauma informed manner. The nurse practitioner will identify, treat, and manage hospitalized patients. The nurse practitioner should demonstrate an advanced level of medical knowledge, clinical/technical competence, sound clinical judgment, professional communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. The nurse practitioner will participate in the comprehensive care of patients in the inpatient settings and provide multi-disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians. In addition, Nurse Practitioners with RNFA credentials may assist in the operating room, collaborating closely with surgeons and the surgical team to ensure high-quality patient care throughout surgical procedures.
