Job Overview Fairview Ridges Hospital is licensed for 150 beds and is located in the twin cities southern suburb of Burnsville, MN. Ridges Hospital serves a wide geographic area in which growth is still occurring while remaining a community based hospital. We have a great opportunity for an RN to work in a Flying Squad position on the Float Pool. In this position you will work on the Flying Squad responding to codes across the hospital and work shifts in the ICU, Emergency Department and Med/Surg areas. Join our award winning, caring and committed staff in delivering patient and family centered care! This position is (0.75 FTE) 60 hours/two weeks, working NIGHT (7p-7:30a), 12 hour shifts, every third weekend rotation. The starting base rate of pay for the position is $41.69. Candidates with experience or higher degree may be brought in at a higher rate of pay. $2.00 extra per hour weekend shift differential $2.00 extra per hour for being in the float pool! Provides nursing support services throughout the patient care units. Provides intermittent patient care services during emergent/urgent situation, monitoring critical patients in special procedures, during transport, and assists physicians as needed. Required MN RN License in good standing Minimum 2 years of experience as RN in ICU and/or ED or other critical care areas, including experience with advanced airways and telemetry BLS ACLS within 30 days of hire ENPC within 1 year months of hire TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum) verification within 1 year of hire Complete cross-training and validation of competencies for units floated to within 3 months of employment Required to meet annual validation of competencies and mandatory education requirements for all units that the nurse may be floated to med/surg units Work two shifts in Emergency Department and/or ICU Preferred BSN or MSN Hold a national certification in specialty area of practice (e.g. AACN certification) 3 years of experience as RN in ICU and/or ED or other critical care areas, including experience with advanced airways and telemetry. Reports changes and responses to interventions in an ongoing manner to a RN Case Manager or the appropriate licensed health care provider. Recognizes alterations in the patients condition and compares the collected data to the previous condition Accountability for the quality of care delivered, recognizing the limits of knowledge and experience; addressing situations beyond the nurse's competency; and performing to the level of education, knowledge, and skill ordinarily expected of an individual who has completed an approved practical nursing education program. Takes responsibility for own decision-making and is committed to quality patient care and Home Care program as a whole. Participates in care planning. Participates with other health care providers in the development and modification of the plan of care. Clearly documents pertinent data including observations, interventions and teaching. Demonstrates an awareness of other disciplines’ roles and assists families in identifying and accepting services to meet patient/family needs. Implements interventions that are delegated ordered or prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider. Determines and implements appropriate interventions within a nursing plan of care or when delegated or assigned by a Registered Nurse. Assists in the evaluation of responses to interventions. Establishes a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family. Practices all patient experience principles embraced by Allina Health in all interactions to provide an excellent experience for patients and their families. Assesses patient vulnerability and initiates appropriate intervention, including reporting if indicated. Advocates for the patient and his/her family in whatever manner is necessary. Encourages and supports patients and families to actively participate in their care. Participates in patient/family teaching as delegated. Communicates information to the RN Case Manager regarding patient/family learning needs. Implements teaching strategies according to the patient plan of care and documents patient and family response. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Associate's or Vocational degree from a Board of Nursing approved LPN program 0 to 2 years in nursing Preferred Qualifications 0 to 2 years in acute care or home care Licenses/Certifications Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)-MN Board of Nursing required Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below ◦ Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association ◦ Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross ◦ Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire) Valid Driver’s License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment (not required for those working at Wedum Residential Hospice) Physical Demands Medium Work: Lifting weight up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequently Pay Range Pay Range: $24.62 to $33.74 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
