Overview Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Hospitalist Resurrection Medical Center | Chicago, IL Prime Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our inpatient gastroenterology team. This hospital-based position offers a desirable 7-on/7-off schedule , providing an excellent work-life balance while delivering high-quality care to patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions. The APP will work collaboratively with gastroenterologists, hospitalists, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams to manage inpatient consults, coordinate care, and support a growing GI service line within a physician-led healthcare system. Position Highlights Inpatient Gastroenterology Hospitalist role 7-on/7-off block schedule Work alongside an experienced team of gastroenterologists Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions Perform patient assessments, daily rounds, consultations, and discharge planning Coordinate care with hospitalists, specialists, and ancillary services Employed position with a competitive compensation and benefits package Supportive, collaborative practice environment Opportunity to work within a growing and comprehensive GI program Responsibilities Conduct inpatient GI consultations and follow-up evaluations Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as appropriate Order, interpret, and review diagnostic studies and laboratory results Coordinate procedures, transitions of care, and discharge planning Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the EMR Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Current or eligible state licensure Minimum of one year of Gastroenterology, Hospital Medicine, Critical Care, or related inpatient experience preferred Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care Pay Transparency Prime Healthcare Illinois Medical Group offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that provides employees the flexibility to tailor benefits according to their individual needs. This advanced practice role will work collaboratively with neurointerventional specialists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, and stroke physicians to provide comprehensive care for patients with complex cerebrovascular and neurological conditions. The ideal candidate will have experience in neurointerventional surgery, neurosurgery, stroke management, and inpatient neuroscience care and thrive in a fast-paced, highly specialized clinical environment. Requirements CNA certificate (current and active) BLS certificate Able to stand for hours at a time Able to lift up to 50 lbs Prefer: Experience with LTC Experience with POC Excellent communication skills and customer service skills Tasks for this position include, but not limited to: Able to work 0630 to 1430, 1430 to 2230, and/or 2230 to 0630 Safely perform daily resident care Accurately obtain vitals and weights Perform restorative programs (ROM, Dressing, Grooming, ect.)
