In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive care to surgical patients from pre-op assessments through their recovery in the PACU. As a perioperative RN , you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care throughout the surgical process. In the PACU, you will closely monitor patients as they recover from anesthesia, providing pain management, addressing potential complications, and ensuring their safe and comfortable transition out of immediate post-op care. Key Responsibilities: Operating Room: Provide comprehensive care during surgeries, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and efficiency. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the OR team to deliver high-quality care. Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU): Monitor patients as they recover from anesthesia, manage post-operative pain, and assess vital signs to ensure patient stability. Provide support and education to patients and their families about the recovery process. Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments to ensure patients are physically and mentally prepared for surgery. Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized care plans. Participate in the education and mentoring of nursing students and new staff members. Contribute to departmental committees, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements. Minimum Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN): Current Missouri RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure. BCLS Certification: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required and maintained. ACLS Certification: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 90 days of hire and maintained. PALS Certification (if required): Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, if required by department. Radiology Certification (if applicable): Must have received radiology training during nursing education or be trained and validated through competency assessments if radiology functions are part of the role. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): BSN preferred. Critical Care Experience: Prior critical care or surgical nursing experience is highly desirable.
