The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license and at least twelve months of recent RN experience in medical/surgical or an acute care setting. The candidate must be available to work the Evening/Night shift (7pm - 7am), with rotating weekends and holidays required. The Surgical Urology/Orthopedic unit is a 32-bed unit for an adult patient population. This fast-paced environment has rapid turnover for surgical procedures, which include postoperative prostatectomy, cystectomy, penectomy, nephrectomy, and orthopedic surgeries. Unique postoperative care of hemipelvectomy, flap monitoring, and testicular cancer surgeries are also managed on this unit. The team uses an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to patient care. Summary The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant II to work within the Division of Vascular Surgery. The Medical Assistant will provide support to clinicians and patients before and after their appointments and will work directly with multiple providers to provide high-quality patient care. Job Duties Schedules patient tests, procedures, and appointments. Conducts patient outreach and post operative patient follow up calls. Manages in-basket messages and coordinates incoming patient referrals. Enters orders for patient tests and obtains proper paperwork. Performs clinical and administrative responsibilities such as charting, filing and/or scanning patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information. Takes inventory of clinic supplies and order supplies as needed. Performs routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs, suture/staple removal and assists with in-office procedures. Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation, notes the primary complaint/reason for patient's visit, and enters information in the electronic medical record.
