Job Description The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. Responsibilities The Nursing Process Assessment - Demonstrates the nursing skills to complete a holistic assessment of the patient’s physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and education needs utilizing The Christ Hospital Professional Practice Model. Understands signs and symptoms and data related to the patient’s presenting needs and actual or potential nursing diagnosis. Recognizes and appropriately reports to the physician and charge RN pertinent abnormal data and changes in the patient’s condition. Utilizes appropriate handoff methods to collaborate with other healthcare team members to communicate pertinent data regarding patient’s physiological and psychological data. Within the unit, there are 12 labor and delivery beds, 4 high-risk beds, 3 post-op recovery beds, 3 surgical suites and a 4-bed triage unit. Patients are triaged, admitted, stabilized, delivered or transferred to a level III facility as appropriate. Post Partum: The Postpartum unit is responsible for the post-delivery care of mothers and their infants, low risk antepartum and clean gyn surgeries. Staff on this unit assist with breastfeeding and education while monitoring the healing and recuperation of new mothers. Staff on this unit are also responsible for maintaining the health of the mother and baby while monitoring any complications that arise during the postpartum period and ensure that mothers have a smooth transition from hospital to home. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): The level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a new 15-bed unit. The NICU can care for very preterm, 28 weeks' gestation, to term infants that require additional support. The range of medical conditions include but are not limited to respiratory support, feeding assistance, neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome, glucose instability, and antibiotic therapy. NICU RNs attend all high-risk deliveries and assist with initial assessments as needed. Staff RNs provide evidence-based care and place special emphasis on skin-to-skin, breastfeeding, and safe sleep practices. Liberty Birthing Center: The Liberty Birthing Center is a 9-bed LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum all in one room) unit and includes a level II special care nursery with 4 private beds and 2 open beds. There is a 4-bed triage/post-partum area as well. This unit is also equipped with 2 ORs that include a family viewing room. Job Description UC Health is hiring a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN) for the Surgical Oncology unit for the Day Shift at the UC Medical Center. Be a part of a growing Surgical Oncology program, by making an indelible impact cancer patient’s lives through caring for them with the most advanced treatment. The Surgical Oncology nurse will support the Medical Center’s 24-bed Surgical Oncology unit and Level I Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures. UCMC is at the forefront in treating patients with pancreatic and liver diseases and is one of two centers that offer autologous islet cell transplantation for the treatment of chronic pancreatitis. 9CCP cares for these patients following ICU until discharge and when patients are readmitted with pain or infection issues. The unit also cares for acute care surgery, thoracic, gynecology/oncology, vascular and colorectal patients. Most of the patients at 9CCP are cared for under the direction of a surgeon. Most patients are admitted from PACU, ICU, ER or directly from their home. Nursing care is concentrated around recovery after surgery including mobility, monitoring intake and output and pain management.
