Essential duties include but are not limited to all or some of the following: Renders public health nursing services in the field of maternal, child and adult health; conducts home visits for birthing and postpartum people and families; interprets treatment plans and assists clients in understanding; provides health education related to nutritional needs, hygiene and safety measures; guides clients after delivery regarding postpartum and newborn care and explains how to access emergency medical assistance; assesses the health, safety, and development of newborn infants and supports clients within infant care. Assists with health promotion/risk reduction intervention and provides health education, screening, advocacy, and counseling for clients of all ages, including children and adolescents from marginalized populations. Utilizes harm reduction principles in education and interventions. Utilizes a race equity framework and lens to address health and racial inequities in populations served by the Department of Public Health. Current licensure in State of CA and CPR certification. 3. Registered nurses / Licensed Vocational nurse shall have a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a professional nurse within the last three (3) years; OR have a baccalaureate degree in nursing from a program accredited by the National League of Nursing and a current RN / LVN license. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience, at least one of which is in the area of public health, home care, or hospice nursing is preferred. 4. Management experience not required. Responsible for supervising hospice aides. 5. Excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, basic math skills; nursing skills per competency checklist. 6. Prolonged or considerable walking or standing. Able to lift, position and/or transfer patients. Able to lift supplies and equipment. Considerable reaching, stooping bending, kneeling and/or crouching. 7.
