Overview: As a Medical Assistant at Hometown Urgent Care, you will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare delivery by assisting healthcare professionals in various clinical and administrative tasks. Duties: · Responsible for taking patient history and obtain vital signs · Perform basic testing or screenings such as: vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testing. · Perform necessary phlebotomy for collection of laboratory samples. · Accurately complete corresponding paperwork/computer work for lab tests ordered on blood, urine, tissue, and culture samples. · Able to perform subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections and accurately complete paperwork according to policy for that procedure. · Perform point of care testing such as: strep, mono, glucose, influenza, Urine pregnancy, Urinalysis, blood glucose levels. · Dispense and document medications and other treatment modalities. · Insure sterile technique, instrument cleaning and sterilization, proper use of the autoclave. · Schedule and coordinate necessary records for ancillary care for patients. · Assist providers with exams and testing (pelvic exams, eye irrigations and ear irrigations, I & D’s and splinting/ ortho-glass preparation · Perform occupational medicine testing such as: urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing, audiogram, and DOT physicals · Maintain confidentiality with all patient information (HIPAA). · Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to manager. · Logs laboratory procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed. · Responsible for patient call backs, scheduling physician referrals; specialist’s referrals and pharmacy issues; and patient’s education. · Maintains examination rooms, sterilization of equipment and stocks necessary medical supplies. · Performs duties to ensure good patient flow. · Registration duties: explain to patients' accepted insurances and those out of network and knowledgeable of all pricing. Job Details On-Demand | Kettering | Full-Time | First Shift Responsibilities & Requirements Under the supervision of the provider and/or practice manager, assists and delivers patient care duties, and provides administrative support throughout the practice. This position assists the provider in examination and treatment of patients, performing miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of provider. This position also interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information in patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. The position will be cross-trained to perform duties to enhance efficiency and continuity of delivery of patient care. MA/CMA : Current Medical Assistant certification/registration as CCMA, CMA (AAMA), NCMA, RMA (through AMT) or completion of KHMG Medical Assistant Training Program or MA program through an accredited institution of higher learning and successful attainment of certification/registration within 15 months of hire. LPN : Graduate of accredited LPN program (or equivalent) with current Ohio license. Medical assistants who are not certified or registered at the time of hire will be restricted from administering medication and entering Epic orders until the required credentials are obtained and verified.
