Job Details: The Johns Hopkins Hospital- Bloomberg 9 South, Pediatric Care is a 20-bed intermediate care unit that cares for medical/surgical patients between 0-21 years of age. The unit specializes in the care of NICU step-down patients and patients undergoing urological surgery. Other specialty services include GI, Pulmonary, Renal, and general pediatric services; and a variety of surgical services, such as Neurosurgery, ENT, Plastic, and General Pediatric Surgery. Patients are cared for by an interdisciplinary team that consists of nurses, physicians, social workers, case managers, child life specialists, and other dedicated ancillary staff. The Triage RN reports to Associate Clinical Director. He/she is responsible for triaging patient and caregiver telephone calls, assisting in the solution, palliation of symptoms and provision of education. Assists with identifying patient/family care needs and for providing nursing and supportive care for the terminally ill patient and their families, in conjunction with case managers and physicians. Maintains relationships with families and patients. Provides support to care team members by acting as a liaison/coordinator with physician offices, insurance case managers, pharmacies and DME company. Education: Diploma, ADN and/or BSN from an accredited institution Licensures/Certifications: Current Maryland State license as a Registered Nurse Experience: One to two years of nursing. Documents discussions in detail. • Assists with pharmacy issues (ordering medication refills, securing scripts for controlled substances, problem solves breakdown in systems communications). • Orders supplies and durable medical equipment as appropriate and documents same in the EMR • Coordinates equipment pick up with vendor representative as necessary. • Trends calls prospectively to determine patterns by team/provider and identifies opportunities for improvement. • Deploys staff as needed to address patient and family assessed needs.
